THE ESCAPE ARTIST is now LIVE! You guys will LOVE this one!

God help her if he escapes.
What Readers are Saying about THE ESCAPE ARTIST
Kitty described this book as a hybrid love child between Comfort Food and Tender Mercies (my #1 and #2) and it absolutely is that. If you liked either of those, chances are you’ll love this.” – Charlie, Goodreads Reader
Her worlds always seem to be so wrong, yet somehow turn out to have been right all along. And this world is just another incredible example of that. And holy shit does it ever deliver. You almost couldn’t make up a story this crazy.” – Cindi Russell, Goodreads Reader
Thank you so much for reading and supporting my work!
If you enjoy THE ESCAPE ARTIST please consider leaving a review at the place you purchased. It would mean so much to me.

Do you design your own covers?
Kitty says
No, my covers are designed by Robin at http://www.gobookcoverdesign.com I was her very first book cover under my other (now defunct) PNR pen name, Zoe Winters. She’s been designing for me every since.
Audrey Stewart says
Winning signed books of yours would be great! I read them all, and some more than once.
Kitty says
Thank you, Audrey! Hope you enjoy THE ESCAPE ARTIST
AlexD. says
I know you’ve said in the past that you haven’t told your family you write as KT-correct me if I am wrong. But if one day that changes, which book would you use to introduce them to your work? Which would be the last one you recommend?
Thank you!
Kitty says
oh my immediate family knows my pen name, the rest don’t and won’t. And none of my family reads my books. I couldn’t write these books if my family were reading them. They are WAY too personal. It would be like them standing in my bedroom watching me have sex. I’m not ashamed of what I write, but some things are private and I don’t share things like this with family members.
Carol Norton says
Cannot wait to read!
Kitty says
Thanks,, Carol! Hope you enjoy! This one is getting great buzz!
Mirele Dourado Pauly says
Your books sound so compelling!
Question: is there any kind of scene that you think it’s harder to write about for whatever reason (it’s too close to home, it’s too emotional etc)?
Kitty says
Believe it or not, sex is hard for me to write. LOL
Betul says
Congrats on your new release. I can’t wait to read this book.
My question: What type of scenes are the hardest to write, and why?
Thank you for another amazing giveaway!
Kitty says
believe it or not… the sex. Sometimes I skip the sex scenes and come back and fill them in when I know the characters better. And I don’t know why. Sex is just hard to write.
Nancy Jones says
I look forward to reading this.
Kitty says
Thanks, Nancy!
Chris Gutowski says
Kitty, I LOVE Ari! I’m still not all that fond of Quill/Kane. What made you think he and Quill would be great friends? I thought they were a strange pairing, but they did seem to work as friends.
Kitty says
LOL Ari just showed up in THE CON ARTIST and Quill trusted him, so it just happened. And I love Quill. He will always be one of my favorites.
Lynne Brigman says
Which book of yours was the hardest to write and which book is your favorite?
Kitty says
Comfort Food was the hardest to write. It was just really emotionally draining. Though all of them are hard in diff ways. The Escape Artist is my favorite.

Do you have a favorite writing snack?
Kitty says
I don’t have writing snacks. I’m not really a snacker in general. I find having to eat sort of annoying because I’m busy. So I confine it to meal times.
Mari Ann says
Looks great!
Kitty says
thanks!
bn100 says
Do you read your books after they’re published?
Kitty says
oh good question! Yes, but usually just once about 6 months after release so I can experience it as close to “the reader experience” as possible. And then I have a few that are favorites that I’ve read multiple times: Tabula Rasa, Con Artist, and Blood Mate. This reminds me we are getting close to time when I can read Twisted Fates.
Dar says
How did you choose the name for the fox?
Kitty says
I didn’t choose it. It just popped into my head when the fox showed up and Ari started talking to it.
Deb Pelletier says
nice book covers, and they sound interesting.

thank you!
Debbie Rice says
Awesome giveaway thank you so much for the opportunity and your generosity can’t wait to read this book and others thank you
Kitty says
Thanks!
Calvin says
This is fire! What inspired you to base it on this theme?
Kitty says
I wanted to try a little role reversal. And Ari was the perfect guy to put in the story. She gets revenge on the wrong guy, but what happens when he has her under his power? What will he do with that power?
BlackAsphodel says
Do you listen to music while writing?
Kitty says
Not usually. I usually listen to thunderstorm and fireplace sounds.
Judy Thomas says
I love that cover. I am looking forward to reading this book.
Kitty says
Thanks Judy, Hope you enjoy!
Java says
Which is your favourite and which one was the hardest to write?
Kitty says
My favorite is always my most recent, so Escape Artist. Hardest to write was Comfort Food. it was just very emotionally draining.
Jennifer Shiflett says
You always have the most beautiful covers! Do you pick them before you start writing, or as you go along?
Kitty says
My cover artist usually finds the images to go on the cover, though I think this time I found the girl. And I order cover art at various stages it just depends on my promo schedule.
Cathy French says
The Escape Artist sounds like an intense read. Looking forward to it for sure.
Kitty says
Thanks, Cathy! You’ll love it!
athena graeme says
I just got a kindle for Christmas, I travel a ton overseas so getting books in English was a problem until now! So I’m looking for some good dark books. I like the blurbs on yours, which book would you recommend as a jump-off point to start with?
Kitty says
I would recc THIS one, The Escape Artist. After that, The Con Artist, then the Pleasure House series starting with Guilty Pleasures. And at some point you should definitely read Comfort Food. happy Reading! And congrats on your Kindle!
Elle says
Hi Kitty,
this looks like a book I’d love to read!!! Congrats on the release 😀
My question: Which one of the books you wrote would be your least favourite one (and optional additional quiestion: why?)?
Kitty says
hmmm least favorite? I think that’s kind of like asking “Which one of your children would you have left at the hospital?” LOL.
Kitty says

Angelica says
So looking forward to reading this! Where do you come up with your best ideas??
Kitty says
I honestly have no idea how to answer that. Ideas come from everywhere. I know that sounds like a brush off but it’s just the way writer minds work. And there is no way to pinpoint it because every idea is a combination of several smaller ideas combined.
April Morin says
Your covers are beautiful. Do you come up with the idea for the cover?
Kitty says
Sometimes. Sometimes my cover artist does.
Brandilyn Petitto says
No questions but I wanted to let you know that I loved reading this book. First book I’ve ever read by you and it was fantastic. ❤

Bsue Hook says
Who is what inspired you to become a Author? Thank you for the chance.
Kitty says
I wanted to write since I was a little kid. I don’t remember what initially sparked it. But there was a period when i was 12 when I wanted to be RL Stine.
Brenda Hook says
Do you have any of your characters in people you know?
Kitty says
I don’t base my characters on real people they come to me as their own people in my mind.
Stephanie Allen says
Who is your favorite Authors?
Kitty says
oh too many to name so I’m probably leaving some out: Claire Kent, Willow Winters, CJ Roberts, Anna Zaires, JA Huss, Caroline Kepnes… ugh my brain is fried. It’s release week. It’s a big list though.
Liz says
Love the sexy cover! That dress- wow!

These books look good, I love to read. Where do you get your ideas for your stories.
Kitty says
Thanks! Sorry your comment got stuck in spam. Everywhere.
Melanie Borhi says
what was your inspiration behind putting together this cover?
Kitty says
I just found an image I liked. We really are mostly at the mercy of the stock photography we happen to find.
Pauline Milner says
I have been a freelance writer for over 15 years, but I have been writing for clients (articles, white papers, annual reports, etc.). This year, I have pivoted to concentrate on my own writing. I am working for finish a full length screenplay (disaster movie), five horror shorts that are meant to be shown at the same time, making up a full length movie. I have also written a children’s book and a short novel. It seems the only way I can write is to ‘write’ the words first in my head and then type them. Many times, I ‘write’ an entire paragraph before committing it to paper. However, I seem to sometimes have difficulty getting the words typed onto my laptop. Is there any advice you could offer? I really wish I could put one of those memory sticks in my ear and download all of my writing, it would be so much easier! Thanks very much for any input you may have.
Kitty says
I’m sorry I can’t because I don’t compose that way. I type AS I’m thinking. Like my fingers are on the keyboard and I’m basically taking dictation. I’ve certainly sometimes had images of scenes come up when I”m away from my computer or lines of dialogue. Sometimes I write those down on a scrap of paper so I don’t forget them but I compose on the computer itself.
And it seems to me that maybe you have a kind of hesitance and are trying to “get it perfect in your head” before you write it down. You’re not chiseling this into a stone tablet and the delete key is easy to use (though in a first draft I wouldn’t get into that habit either.) It would probably benefit you to learn how to compose into the computer as you’re thinking it so that your thoughts and your typing become linked in such a way that writing and thinking are basically the same act.
It will save you years of angst and writer’s block. A couple of books you might look into: Writing into the dark by Dean Wesley Smith (I wouldn’t recc taking ANY of his marketing advice though as he’s a “build it and they will come” sort which is absolutely untrue), and “If you can talk, you can write.” While that latter book is geared more toward non-fiction it involves a mindset that might help.
Tammy says
Where do you get your most inspiration for characters and stories? Real life, dreams, movies, TV…?
Kitty says
it just comes into my head. I’m sure, like dreams, it’s sort of an amalgam of different things but there is no one specific thing.
Kitty says
Also, after decades of writing (I’ve been writing fiction since childhood), most of the creative process for me is an unconscious process. It’s largely an act of “channeling”. I trust this process and I no longer question it. Nor do I analyze or scrutinize it. It’s like water that flows over you in the shower. It’s just an experience. And not something that I think about in the sense of analyzing where this or that comes from. Where does a flower come from? Where does a tree come from? Or a cloud? We all have our theories but nobody really KNOWS this stuff and I think art is the same way.
bookluvinrose says
congratulations!!! What is one of the hardest parts of release day for you?
Kitty says
the whole thing
Kevin Linkie says
Best of luck on your new release and may 2020 be an incredible year for you.

Marissa Buffett says
How old were you when you decided you wanted to be a writer?
A few time’s over the years I thought about it, not sure if it’s too late to start.
Kitty says
I was a little kid. Like elementary school. But it’s never too late to start. It’s not like being in the olympics. 😛
Wanda B says
What gave you the idea for this book?
Kitty says
I just wanted to do a turn the tables revenge plot. I really can’t explain where ideas come from. they just COME. A lot of times I wake up with them. Sometimes plots almost fully formed in my head and sometimes I just get a piece of the idea and write my way into it. I truly believe art is magic. Like literally a supernatural force. And basically the writing gods give me my ideas. No joke.
Aimz says
I loved The Escape Artist!
Kitty says
Thank you!
Michele Soyer says
Love this cover.. What inspires you?
Kitty says
Thank you! Everything

Nina T says
Thank you for the chance!
I’m not a big fan of dark romance but this one sounds really good!
Which dark romance authors would you suggest to a newbie to this (sub)genre? Who are your favorites?
Kitty says
okay so I’m confused (not being a smartass, genuinely curious)… you aren’t a big fan of dark romance but you want reccs? Can I ask what it is you don’t like about Dark Romance and also what makes you curious enough to ask about them? And definitely if you are newer to this genre give Escape Artist a go! Other authors I would recc? Anna Zaires Twist Me series. Hold by Claire Kent is wonderful. JA Huss has a lot of fabulous twisted weird stuff!, Willow Winters has some great stuff! Her Merciless series as well as her standalone Broken.
Maria Dalmau says
Planning on staying tonight after everyone goes to bed, no interruptions while I’m reading.
Kitty says
Awesome, Maria! I think you’ll fall hard for Ari.
Jodi Wresh says
How do you get the inspiration for storylines, characters etc?
Kitty says
That’s a question I can’t really answer. It’s different each time. And lots of times I literally just wake up with ideas. And it might not be a full book, just a snippet, so I’ll write that down and go about my life, then something in my life or in a movie or something I overhear sparks another idea and it goes together with the first idea. I don’t know it’s a weird freaky magic sort of thing. I usually just say The Writing Gods and leave it at that.
Chanda says
For years, while I’ve loved everything you’ve authored, I always had my top three: Comfort Food, Big Sky & Broken Dolls, with Comfort Food being #1. The Escape Artist has officially taken Comfort Food’s #1 spot. I love everything about this book, especially Ari. The Escape Artist has been added to my reread stack. ♥️
Kitty says
Thank you! I really do think I FINALLY topped Comfort Food. Fucking FINALLY. It took 10 damn years but yay.

Michelle Catallo says
Of course #1 ~ congrats! This looks and sounds like a delicious read!
Question:
You have worked in different genres, which one is your favorite?
Kitty says
Thanks! I’m not sure I would say I have worked in diff genres. yes sometimes I write paranormal, sometimes contemporary, sometimes sci-fi ish, sometiems mythology, but it’s all “dark” and so in that way it’s really all the same genre, just manifesting differently. And I don’t have a favorite.
Melissa Shank says
Happy Release Week.
Fantastic read. Thanks for the chance.
Kitty says
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it!
LeonieT says
Sounds like my kind of book! Beautiful cover.
Kitty says
thank you!
Janet says
I am curious to how the title Escape Artist links to the characters/story for you, in your own head?
I loved the book. Love Quill. Loved him before but now he has another dimension.
Kitty says
OH the meaning behind the title? I had to read that a couple of times. lol. okay… so The Con Artist is named that way because they are both sort of running a con on the other in different ways. So they are BOTH con artists, and that’s why they are perfect for each other. So I continued this theme with The Escape Artist. They BOTH escape captivity and so just like with The Con Artist, the title applies to both of them equally. Then there is one more book I will be writing in this world following on this theme. It’s going to be Logan’s book (the guy you met at the art show who bought 6 of Saskia’s paintings.)
Janet says
Sorry I didn’t word that very well but you understood me. I wondered if it was something like that or a nod to quill being part of the story.
Thanks for the insight x
Kitty says
no problem!
Janet says
Also really really looking forward to Logan’s story 😍
Kitty says
thanks!

Konnie says
I’m in the middle of The Escape Artist now, and enjoying every minute of it! I just wanted to clear up one thing that’s been nagging at me… Marcus is bald, right? He seemed to start out bald, and then later in the art gallery scene in The Con Artist, it seemed to me like he had hair? Or was I mistaken? I’ve had trouble picturing Marcus ever since 🤔.
Kitty says
LOL no Marcus has never had hair. I mean I’m sure he had hair as a kid but as an adult male he’s never had hair. And I don’t tend to write sex scenes that involve “grabbing the guys hair” so you just made it up in your head LOL.
Cynthia C says
The cover is gorgeous, love the pops of red!
Kitty says
thank you!
Shannon Holmes says
This sounds like a great read!
Kitty says
thanks!
Rebecca E. says
Is there any subject you won’t touch? Favorite subject to write about? Something you want to write about but haven’t yet?
Kitty says
obviously I won’t touch anything illegal (like underage or actual rape). I pretty much only write captive master/slave stories so that’s my fave subject lol. I also really like menage/group situations. Not sure about the last question.
Artemis Giote says
Congratulations on your new release!!!!
I was always wondering. Does writing energize or exhaust an author?
Kitty says
Hi Artemis. I love your name! Goddess of the hunt! Thank you. The answer is both. Initially up to about 2k words in a writing day it’s energizing, writing much more, especially for days on end gets exhausting.
Piroska says
Congrats on your new release! Sounds fantastic!!

Kitty says
captive and menage
Christina Gould says
Who came up with the design for this cover?
Kitty says
I came up with the concept and found the art, but the general “look” and “feel”of things comes from the foundational branding that my cover artist has created for me.
Lynne says
Thanks for the chances!
Kitty says
you’re welcome!
BookLady says
Congrats on the new release! It sounds awesome. Who are some authors that have influenced your writing?
Kitty says
I really don’t know how to answer that. There weren’t really “dark romance books” before I published Comfort Food in 2010. All my major influences that got me on the path to writing were like RL Stine Goosebumps books when I was 12. Development as a writer is such a long and organic process. Outside of that I can’t really pinpoint anything. There was Story of O and Nine and a Half weeks but it wasn’t really the writing that I was responding to. I was mad they didn’t end up together and felt the need to moralize about the “dirtybadwrong” relationship.
I basically started writing a genre that didn’t really exist, and the market started to define it. So I can’t say “oh this author influenced me” or “that author influenced me” because I started writing seriously when I was 12. Like trying to write NOVELS back then. I was just a kid so so much of my development happened in a different head space and in totally different genres. So when I finally matured to the point as a writer to be ready to publish things, I had already gone through all my “fangirl phases” on like teenager books back in the day. I didn’t have any of that energy left and so by that point I was just doing my own thing telling the stories I felt I needed to tell.
By the time I looked up and took notice of other authors writing these same types of books I write, I’d already published like five or six of them and my voice and style were set.
Kitty says
also, thanks!
Lynda says
I’m so glad I found you on Goodreads!! Finding new authors is the best!!!

This fantastic, new read makes you want to dance the dance of love, and cry, “Encore!” Ballet has been a passion of mine since I was four so this was a must-get for me. I’m a huge admirer of ballerina Misty Copeland. ‘The Nutcracker’ is a work my whole family is especially fond of!
