Thanks! LOL why because I give a lot of stuff away? 😛 But even if you’ve already read Con Artist, it’s definitely worth your while to grab the 99 cent digital version during this sale to get the teaser at the end!

You do give a lot away and I just think that’s awesome and crazy but it pulls in new readers/people who might be interested and makes it a bigger community, if that makes sense. And I donno, having people to chat with is nice 😀 <3

Don’t forget there is a over 2k length teaser scene from EA at the back of the re-release in digital (this is all formats so all the links in the blog post for digital but if the one you want isn’t shifted to 99 cents yet I’d wait and grab it on sale.)

awwww that makes me feel good to hear. I don’t mind doing sales but so often you get a lot of people grabbing the books at 99 cents and hoarding them on their ereader and never “getting around” to reading them. Obviously we make like pretty much nothing on a 99 cent sale, the point is to get more readers. If people actually READ the books they get from me for 99 cents, I am happy to do it!

I love all your books, but this one, well, it took my breath away in such an amazing way because of it’s originality and emotional response I had to it!

I’m really excited to read this. How do you stay motivated to keep writing when ideas don’t come as quick?

    Reply

    • Kitty says

That’s not a problem. I have a whole folder full of ideas. Some of which I will probably never get around to writing because I have so many. It’s more an issue of staying motivated to sit down and write and not be afraid I’ll “mess it up”. i.e. not procrastinating.

    Hi Kitty,
    Happy re-release!
I was wondering if there is a (sub)genre or trope you would love to write but haven’t yet. If so, what (sub)genre/trope?

I love Kitty Thomas and I consider myself one of her biggest fans. I have read all her books. I really enjoyed the Pleasure House Series. I have read them twice.

Yeah sometimes I let the winners pick and sometimes I pick. Sometimes it has to do with what I have on hand and whether or not I can afford to do a big book order lol

I just finished The Escape Artist and it’s in the editing phase. I’m taking a little break from writing right now dealing with the con artist re-release but I will either write the third and final book in the con artist world next or if Brian will talk to me I’ll write the first novella from Brian and Mina’s novella series.

I think I always wanted to be a writer. When I was in Junior high I started trying to write novels. Of course back then I was writing these sort of RL Stine/Goosebump style stories. I started publishing in 2008 with Paranormal romance under the name Zoe Winters and then started simultaneously publishing the types of books I write now, starting with Comfort Food (the book I’m most known for) in early 2010.

Are there any books you’ve written that you scrapped or put aside because you thought people weren’t ready for it?

    Reply

    • Kitty says

Nope. I thought people weren’t ready for comfort food (and actually that was largely true judging by all the people who were “too scared” to read it when it came out… then a few years later when they’re reading dark romance, they forget about me), but I published it anyway.

Congratulations on your re-release! You were the one to give me my first dark read. Thank you for introducing me to this genre!

Amazing giveaway!! I love fall and winter, but I tend to stay inside, too. Do you have a go-to drink to warm you up? I know I drink too much coffee, but I’m addicted to the Starbucks Cinnamon Dolce creamer right now.

    Reply

    • Kitty says

No, I try not to be in a “habit” of things like coffee drinking. Too much caffeine IMO is harmful to lady hormones. And while I think decaf is largely fine, it depends on the decaf. They use a lot of toxic chemicals to create decaf coffee most of the time. THough there are better methods, most coffee shops don’t have decaf coffee made that way.

I already own the original Con Artist, but it’s worth .99 cents for the Escape Artist teaser. The story absolutely gutted me, but I need more of Quill & Saskia’s story!

    Reply

    • Kitty says

Wish granted! There is a lot more of Quill in EA but also there is more progression on his story with Saskia. Also, if you haven’t read Twisted Fates ( my n newest release in the Pleasure House world, Quill and Saskia have a sort of sweet cameo in that one!)

No questions right now, but I really admire your strength of character, in knowing what works for you and what doesn’t (I gathered this from reading your replies to some of the comments).

I don’t have a book reading order. All my books are standalones. except for the pleasure house world which are interlocking stand alones. The Con Artist is the first stand alone in a series of interlocking standalones (my upcoming Escape Artist is the second of three books coming in that world). So since Con Artist is on sale and there is no conflict with reading it first, I would say start there.

Just bought the re-released Con Artist even though I already had it because I felt like supporting you, fangirl that I am, plus why not pay just 99c to get the Escape Artist teaser, right? And my, what a teaser it is! 😍👍❤️ Can’t wait to read the whole thing in January!

    Reply

    • Kitty says

Thanks, Konnie! That’s in large part why I put the Con Artist re-release at 99 cents because I was putting the teaser in the back. I needed to boost visibility to help boost visibility for EA but I also wanted to offer a deal that my readers who already had CA could appreciate without feeling gouged.

No, I don’t cook. I’m in charge of decorating. (I mean I DO cook, but not for Thanksgiving. That’s not my family job. My job is decor and games.)

I probably won’t be shopping. I will be baking and painting things for people. One of my little trees is up and some of my indoor decor. My other two larger trees I’m doing the day after Thanksgiving. Also I’ve decorated my outside trees.

Hi Kitty! Since I’m leaving a comment for your giveaway, I’ll take the opportunity to say that I have read several of your novels, and I’d like to compliment your writing. It’s excellent in my opinion. You’re very, VERY good at placing into words the inner struggles your characters experience. It’s easy for me to image myself in the place of your characters, because the emotions (if not the extreme situations) are so similar to those I’ve experienced myself.

I was already learning non-toxic ways to paint with oils without using turps and other harmful chemicals. So I utilized that in this book but I don’t think I specifically researched it FOR this book. It was just research I’d done for personal reasons/purposes that became useful in this book.

How long does it take you to write a book? Do you come up eith ideas for your next book before you finish what your working on?

    Reply

    • Kitty says

It varies “calendar time” with how long it takes, but it generally takes about the same amount of “actual days worked time”. It generally takes me something like 30-40 actual days of writing to write a book. Sometimes though I’ll get blocked or procrastinate a lot or get involved in other things in my life and it can take a lot longer on the calendar. The longest one took 17 months. But when you count the number of days I actually seriously sat down and WROTE it definitely wasn’t longer than 60 days. And editing takes about a week once I get my edits back because after decades of writing I write really clean first drafts. (I would hesitate to call it a “rough draft” because I don’t really think I write “rough” drafts anymore just because of the level of experience I’ve acquired at this point.) As far as ideas go… sometimes they happen while I’m writing a book and sometimes after. Normally what happens is I’ll get stuck on a book and the work will really start to drag and I’ll get inspiration for a new story and be outlining and making notes.

And that helps me get back into and finish the book I’m working on because once I’ve committed to a book I finish it. Since I started publishing I haven’t left any book I’ve gotten past the first chapter on. So the new idea motivates me to finish up what I’m working on so I can write the new idea.
